What Is Father's Day To You?
Father's Day was 100 years old Sunday, June 20th. It became a holiday when Sonora Smart-Dodd, one of 6 children of a single dad in Spokane, Washington, decided that her dad needed recognition just as mothers were recognized on Mother's Day. Her own father, William Smart. As a Civil War veteran, he was widowed with the birth of their sixth child and raised the newborn and other five children on their farm.
