Where Does the Sand Go?

Ever wonder why beaches are not washed into the sea with each wave, each tide? Sand comes from the land, and soil contains sand. Erosion brings it to the sea, but the process is something of a circle. Wind, currents, storms, and other natural elements (not counting the occasional beach renourishment project), brings sand to the dunes.
