Wow! That's a BIG truck!

Monster trucks? Why not? Grab the family and head to the Myrtle Beach Speedway Saturday night for an amped-up good time! The Monster Truck Challenge has attracted some of the biggest names in the sport: Bounty Hunter, Nitro Fish, Hot Tamale, Equalizer, War Wizard, Avenger and Brutus, in this one-night event stop along the Grand Strand. Ticket holders will watch as 14 of the biggest racers on wheels qualify and vie for the night’s big win. The best part, of course, has got to be the freestyle portion of the event, which lets the competitors show off their master driving abilities, along with the opportunity to run over the top of normal-sized autos. Tickets range from $10 to $55 and the fun begins with the qualifying heat at 5 pm. If you're staying with us this week, be sure to ask the front desk staff for directions from the Avista Resort.

Avista Resort and Myrtle Beach Hard Rock Theme Park Partner

Hard Rock Theme Park and Avista Resort are now partners! Officially named a "Hard Rock Park Preferred Partner" in May, the Avista Resort in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, offers guests advance tickets into the brand new amusement park, with the added perk of getting into the park a half-hour earlier than those who buy their tickets at Hard Rock Park’s front gate (not to mention avoiding those long lines!). Tickets will be available through the resort beginning the second full week of May, right in time for Hard Rock’s grand opening on May 9. A special Hard Rock Park vacation package, including accommodations will immediately follow on the resort’s Web site.

The 140-acre park has already generated a huge amount of interest and excitement from area residents, regular Myrtle Beach vacation goers, and rollercoaster enthusiasts from around the United States. Most of the focus has been on the park’s signature rollercoaster, named Led Zeppelin—The Ride, which rises to a peak of 15 stories at 65 miles per hour, and sends riders through an exhilarating series of six inverted loops, all perfectly in time with Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” rock song.
