FAMILY VACATION NEWSLETTER

Dear Friends,

Summer is here and so are the kids, and at the Avista this summer, we have plenty for them to do! Monday thru Friday we have daily activities scheduled by the pool! Kids can join our Activities Directors Justin and Afton for pool basketball, bingo, sandcastle building, relay races and much more. They can also visit Ms. Rosie and get their hair braided or wrapped while mom and dad get a much deserved massage by the pool! New this year at the Avista is Kids Night Out. This is a special night designed to give both the kids and the parents a much-needed break from each other and also allows kids to meet others their own age in a fun atmosphere!

Until then…

We are very excited to welcome our Front Desk Interns Demelza Koster from Middelburg, Holland and Dave Geuze from Zierikzee, Holland. Demelza and Dave started at the Avista on May 17th and their smiles have been brightening the lobby ever since. So far, their favorite things to do besides working at the Avista are going to the beach, swimming and sunning. They have enjoyed visiting the Pavilion and going to the Dixie Stampede, where they especially liked the racing "varkentjes" (that's Dutch for pigs.) Demelza and Dave will be with us until mid-November, so stop by the desk and give them a big "Hallo!"

GUEST COMMENTS
Here's what our guests are saying about us...

No carts were available because everyone had them hid in their rooms.I searched in vain and the front desk lady named Linda told me I will help you load your belongings and carry them from your room to your car. She got a chair to someones desk and loaded it with my bags and rolled it to the car outside. I will never forget this and have told everybody. This is service!! I love your hotel and something like this is something that is priceless. I would love to have a number to the corporate office and tell them about this great person named Linda. I made pictures because I told her nobody is ever going to believe this. I wouldn't take a million dollars for this moment. This is customer service like it used to be. Thank you for the opportunity to tell you this. Kay Burnett

Our family came to Avista Resort for a wedding on the beach. The accomodations were outstanding, and the staff was very helpful with a few extras we needed for the wedding. Our children thoroughly enjoyed the indoor and outdoor lazy rivers and pools. Thanks for a great weekend. Jennifer Ricketts

The room was excellent and the only thing that let it down was the lack of storage/shelf facilities in the bathroom Barbara and I have travelled from England to North Myrtle Beach for our two week spring golf holiday every year since 1992. This year we again travelled with our friends, the Thomas's and it was our best visit yet. The Avista Resort and all of the staff were excellent. We had a clean and well equipped one bedroom apartment. The staff in every section of the Resort were very friendly and helpful. Our special thanks to Debbie and all the front desk staff and to Abbey who got us great show tickets. Most of all we want to thank Golf Guy Brian and his team who arranged our rooms and all of our golf. He and they were so helpful and friendly especially when we were forced to re-schedule - thanks guys. It's a long way from Cambridgeshire, England but we feel that the Avista Resort and its staff made it well worth the journey. We certainly plan to be back next year. Thank you all, David Tattam

Just wanted to let you know that we are back from our holiday in the United States. We had a wonderful time in Myrtle Beach (as usual). The Avista Resort is great, we were very pleased with our room and the hotel in general, we hope to return within the next six months. Tony was pleased with all his golf arrangements and we got on great with the 'girls' in Just off Main. Thank you to all of you for making our trip most enjoyable. Janet and Tony Weal

Our entire party of 8 would like to thank the staff and owners of Avista for making it a bright spot during our travel to Myrtle Beach. We had a terrible flying and baggage experience with United, and lost the first 1 1/2 days of our vacation, putting everyone on edge and in a bad mood. However, the Avista properties made our stay so pleasant even under those circumstances. The staff was courteous and sensitive to our problems. 6 of us decided to extend our trip by one day and were able to move our entire party to a 3 br suite for our final night. The transition to the other room was smooth and the staff moved us as soon as we requested the change. Cindy Natalie

Hunter Brisco Wedding - Thanks Cathy! Everything went beautifully, and we had numerous people tell us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. The Avista made it so, because the accommodations were so nice, for a great price, and afforded everyone a great vacation. They all enjoyed the Avista when they weren't at the wedding functions, and enjoyed being able to walk back and forth to the house where we held the dinners and brunch. On both Friday and Saturday, our friends took the party back to the 4th floor lounge after our events were over at the house. Most of all, you made it possible to plan such a fun weekend by being so easy to work with. Thank you for everything. Please allow me to be a reference if you are ever in need of one. I'll also be happy to send pictures of the wedding on the beach if you would like to use them to promote weddings at the Avista. Thanks again for all your help, and cheers to everyone at the Avista. Love, Shawn & Lowell

Divine Calling Ministries - I found the assistance of John, AV/Media Coordinator, exceptional. He was very knowledgeable and astute in helping us set up our recording devices. We are extremely grateful for the assistance he provided, without it we would have no recordings of our sessions. Please thank him again for assisting us. Karen Jackson
