On April 16th, the Easter Bunny came hopping down the bunny trail and straight into the Avista where she was greeted by young and old alike. The Easter Bunny herself delivered several baskets to very lucky children early in the morning, with only one “screamer”, which is good according to Easter Bunny standards. Then the Easter Bunny joined many families at Just Off Main, where she received one marriage proposal and discussed the fine points of carrots and also announced the winners of the Avista Coloring Contest. Each winner of the coloring contest received a framed copy of their coloring sheet and a game! At high noon, the Easter Bunny hosted an Easter Egg Hunt in the lobby. Over 30 kids arrived for this event and took off in search of the golden egg, which was hidden in a very special place. The winner received an Easter Basket filled with candy and other goodies. All in all, Easter was a great success at the Avista and the Easter Bunny was heard saying she couldn’t wait until next year!

The 55th annual Sun Fun Festival will attempt to break the current record for the world's tallest sandcastle.
A highlight of the festival, the World's Tallest Sandcastle Attempt presented by Best Western of the Carolinas will be built from May 31-June 7, 2006, on the ocean side of the Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park's boardwalk.
When completed, the Myrtle Beach area's sandcastle will be 60 feet wide at its base, use 70 dump truck loads of sand (1,200 cubic tons) and will stand at a towering 35 feet tall, more than 5 1/2 feet taller than the current record of 29.25 feet held by Parkfest in Falmount, Maine, since 2003. The chamber's Myrtle Beach welcome center stands at less than 25 feet tall, more than 10 feet shorter than the sandcastle's forecasted height.
Currently the Myrtle Beach area holds the Guinness World Record for the Longest Sand Sculpture.

Here's what our guests are saying about us...
Hello from the Askey family!
Our family consisting of 2 adults our two boys and two of their friends were guests at the Avista from March 28 through April 1 2006. We found your very classy add in the Myrtle Beach guide. After a lot of research and phone calls we decided to give the Avista a try. I cannot tell you what a wonderful, much needed vacation we had. The Avista is beautiful, fresh , clean and the staff was so accomodating and friendly. Andre` was the first to make sure we were happy with our room and helped us get a lower floor. The view from 502 North is beautiful and made our stay so relaxing. The entire staff was so friendly and accomodating when we needed anything from an extra cooking dish to restaurant recomendations. The kids were happy with the indoor pool and hot tub. The beach is beautiful. We also love your location. I had to write to tell you this because our vacations are very important to us and we feel that we had one of our best at the Avista. We have many sources that we will recommend the Avista, a large baseball organization, Enervision Corp. and The Greather Charlotte YMCAs as well as friends and family that we will bring back with us and recommend the Avista. We are very excited about our new vacation spot.
Thank you again for being there to make our spring break a great one. We will see you again!
The Askey family
Our stay at the Avista was extremely pleasant. When I booked the room online I requested several things. Upon our arrival all of the things were already in place. I will not stay at another hotel. My husband is very picky about hotel accomdentions. He says they never look like the pictures on the internet. (This suite looks even better than the pictures) He was very pleased with our accomendations. He had only positive things to say as well. The washer/dryer made my life much easier with not having to bring home dirty clothes. My only recommendation would be to install a vending machine to purchase laundry products from. All was wonderful...all was great!!!! We'll be back!!!!!!!!!!!! (In regard to bathroom storage space...There is plenty).

Hi Mr. Eggen, I would like to recognize one of your employees in reservations, Cheryl (do not know last name). I am a regular visitor to Avista Resort since discovering your property last year. Every experience has always been positive with each of your staff. This time, especially nice due to the circumstances! I needed to make a change in a reservation that I had made back in January, my 79 year old mother will be having surgery during the dates of my original reservation. As a result, I called reservations this past Sunday, 4/2 and was fortunate to speak to Cheryl. I explained my situation and that I needed to change my travel plans to another date. She was understanding, pleasant and assisted me (along with her supervisor) in getting my plans changed without penalty.
Another nice experience with Avista Resort.....kuddos to you and staff for being customer friendly! Will look forward to my visit on the 20th of April and future visits! My sincere thanks to Cheryl!
With best regards,
Phyllis (PJ) Smith
