What has been a long hot summer is finally coming to a close. Now the staff is preparing for what will be a busy golf season followed by an equally busy holiday season. At the beginning of the summer, we featured frequently asked questions in two of our newsletters, at the end we wanted to share with you some of our favorite guest questions. The ocean seems to be a source of great mystery for many guests. Whether it's people from the west coast who are curious about the great Atlantic or folks from the mid-west who are not familiar with the ocean at all, everyone has a question for us about the ocean. We have been asked questions regarding the depth and color of the ocean. We have been asked to describe the ocean and have even been asked whether or not there are sharks in the ocean. Our favorite question...what time does the ocean close?

Snowbirds
Two months and counting until the arrival of our first group of Snowbirds! It's hard to believe that a year has come and gone already. Last year we had a very successful Snowbird season and we hope to top it this year! Abbey is already hard at work planning events and outing for the Snowbirds and is eager to get your input! Be on the lookout for your Snowbird welcome packet within the next month! If you haven't made your monthly reservation, it's not too late! Contact the reservations department at 1-!

Labor Day Event
Saturday, September 1, DJ Earl Taylor with Global Tourist Network will be spinning up the tunes for your holiday entertainment. The fun begins at noon and lasts until 4 p.m.

The SOS Fun Starts Here!
Dance the time away, without ever leaving the resort! The Avista is proud to take part in the SOS Fall Migration by offering beachfront Shag activities for our very special Shagging guests. Once again, we’ll be turning our beautiful pool area into a picturesque dance stage, complete with dance floor and unparalleled Atlantic Ocean views. A great line-up of live entertainment, plus food and adult beverages will be available to keep the party going for as long as your dancing feet hold up.

South Carolina's Largest Garage Sale

SOS Fall Migration

Glens Group
The Glens Group Package lets you play three of the following courses:

Heathers Glen, a 400-acre Scottish-tradition masterpiece with 100-year-old pine trees and winding streams and brooks; the naturally 35-foot elevated Glen Dornach, which winds along a stunning section of the Intracoastal Waterway and marshes; Shaftesbury Glen, designed by Clyde Johnston, featuring elevated greens and demanding doglegs; or the wide fairways of Possum Trot, voted friendliest course along the Grand Strand.

CATS
Want a chance to tame the beast? Then try our CATS Packages. The CATS 3 has you playing Lion’s Paw, Tiger’s Eye and Panther’s Run. The CATS 4 allows you to play those three, plus Leopard’s Chase, with a 5th round for free on either Lion’s Paw or Panther’s Run. Here’s a sneak peek of the courses:

Described as Willard Byrd’s finest, Lion’s Paw is the perfect blend of masterful layout and rustic scenery. Tiger’s Eye, carved out of a virgin pine and hardwood forest, features fast-paced greens and tricky pin placements. Panther’s Run is a beautiful course where your ability will be tested by constant elevation changes and naturally occurring marsh hazards. And, finally, Leopard’s Chase, the newest feline course, that boasts forced carries, dramatic elevation variances, plenty of undulating greens, and even a waterfall along the #18 green.
