  Fun Facts

Ever wondered why you apply sunscreen and still get burned. Check out our list of frequently asked questions about sunscreen that may help you prevent burning so you can have fun in the sun safely.

How often should I apply sunscreen?
Sunscreen should be applied to the body 15 to 30 minutes prior to being exposed in the sun. Reapply sunscreen every two hours or after swimming or heavy perspiration.

How much sunscreen should I apply?
The American Association of Dermatology recommends using 1 oz of lotion on each part of the body.

Does my sunscreen expire?
The FDA requires that all sunscreen remain at their original strength for at least 3 year unless your bottle indicates an expiration date.

Should everyone wear sunscreen regardless of the color of their skin?
Dark skinned people don't burn as easily as fair skinned people but that doesn't mean they are protected from getting skin cancer. So yes, everyone should wear protective sunscreen.

How do I relieve sunburn?
Ways you can relieve your sunburn are taking cool showers or baths, applying soothing lotions or gels that contain aloe and soaking in a bath with baking soda or apple cider vinegar.

What should I do if I get blisters?
Leave them alone and don't wear clothing or shoes that may irritate them. Blisters form to protect the skin from severe burns. Try to leave them uncovered so they can breathe. Should you need to cover them, make sure to place gauze or band-aids loosely to the affected area.

GUEST COMMENTS
Here's what our guests are saying about us...

I have traveled to Myrtle Beach many many times, and this resort is my top pick so far... Price wise was a good deal, and living in Toronto, we drove to Niagara Falls airport, and flew Myrtle Beach Direct Air. Great property, had a 1 bedroom ocean view room- plenty of space for family of 4... This property is in North Myrtle Beach - quiet and family focused compared to Myrtle Beach itself... make sure this is what you're looking for in your vacation... I highly recommend the Avista! Trip Advisor HappyWanderer2323, Toronto, Canada June 10, 2008

Everything about the Avista was GREAT!! From the front desk to the housekeeping. All rooms have easy access to the beach and garage parking. Your car doesn't have to sit out in the sun. Beautiful clean rooms! No complaints whatsoever. Trip Advisor memaw08, Tennessee June 2, 2008

The resort, staff and experience were beyond my expectations. Your sales staff was very helpful in assisting me with the items I had to ship back to my office. Overall you run an excellent property on par with 4 and 5 star hotels nationally. Please tell your staff that they are appreciated. Jim Andres, June 2008

Very nice stay, everything was set up and very easy for us to enjoy our stay. FRONT DESK STAFF- OUTSTANDING- VERY HELPFUL AND HAPPY. THANKS AGAIN! Jim Morenz, June 2008

Absolutely loved Avista! The indoor pool was so relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing. Temperature was perfect and not crowded, like a private oasis for us. We look forward to our next stay. Cindi Sullivan, June 2008
