Hello Friends!
As summer approaches, the Avista staff is preparing for the onslaught of parents, kids, couples, questions, questions, and more questions. We have decided that we would dedicate the next 2 newsletters to these questions, you know, the "frequently asked questions!" Think of the newsletters as your insiders guide to the Avista. In this month's newsletter, we will be focusing on questions regarding reservations, golf, and general resort information. Next month, we will be focusing on area information, swimming pool rules, family attractions and children's activities, and banquets and weddings. We hope you find the newsletters very informative and are helpful in preparing you for vacation!
See you soon!

"FAQ's"
Reservations
Our reservationists are trained to be a thorough as possible when taking reservations. We understand that there are still some questions that you may have for us or some things that you are not quite sure about. We will address a few of them here, but please do not hesitate to call the reservations department at , if you need more information.
What time is check-in?
Check in is at 4pm. At the time you made your reservation, you may have requested an early check in. While we try our hardest to accommodate early check in requests, please remember that it is just a request and not a guarantee.
Can we bring our pet with us?
Unfortunately, the Avista does not accept pets of any kind. The staff will be happy to recommend several area kennels if you would like to board your pet while in town.
Can I request a certain room number, floor or tower?
Once again, we do try to accommodate all requests, but they are simply requests. We cannot guarantee room numbers, floors or towers.
What you really need to know...
Many of you have stayed with us before and know what to expect when you arrive, but for those of you who are visiting us for the first time, this section is a must read for you!
How do I get to the resort?
The most common mistake for first time visitors trying to come to the resort is going to the city of Myrtle Beach instead of North Myrtle Beach. We recommend you visit Mapquest or Google Maps and print directions. The address you will use is:
300 North Ocean Boulevard
North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29582
What do I need to bring with me to check in?
Please bring a valid picture ID, the credit card you used when you made your reservation, your license plate number and payment for your reservation.
Where should I park?
Registration parking is located under each side of the resort. After registration, you will need to move your car across the street to the Avista parking garage. Parking is not permitted in the public lots next to the resort. If you are parked in those lots, the city of NMB will ticket or tow your car between the hours of 12am and 6am.
What happens if members of my party arrive before I do?
We will not be able to check anyone into the room unless we have permission prior to check in. If you anticipate you may find yourself in this situation, please call the resort ahead of time.

Mayfest Mayhem!
The city of North Myrtle Beach recently hosted "Mayfest on Main Street". Mother Nature granted us perfect balmy, beach weather as Avista guests watched in awe the Golden Knights' parachute display and enjoyed music from legendary surf artists. In addition to co-sponsoring the event, The Avista was also the proud host of the VIP dinner that preceded the jam-packed day of activities. Participants delighted in our Executive Chef Lou Favata's creation of scallops ceviche style, artichoke leaves stuffed with crab, penne pasta with chicken and sun dried tomatoes, and strawberry rolls. Honored dinner guests included Lt. Governor Andre Bauer, Senator Dick Elliott, NMB Mayor Marian Hatley, Dean Torrence from Jan and Dean, Al Jardine and David Marks of Beach Boys Fame, newcomer Brooke Morton and her Nashville All Star Band, along with local musicians Donny Trexler, Johnny Cobb and Sammy O'Banion.

Golf
|
|
With over 100 golf courses, it is only understandable that you would have questions about where to play, when to play, how much to pay etc… Below are some of the questions we are asked the most about playing golf in the summer.
When is the best time to play and how far in advance should I book my T-Time?
That depends. Summer mornings are much cooler and this makes morning rounds more desirable. If you want to play in the morning, you will need to book your round well in advance. It will be much easier for you to find a time if you are willing to play in the afternoon or if you are a single golfer.
Where should I play and how much should I expect to pay?
Since we have a wide variety of golf courses on the Grand Strand, there are several price and skill level options available. The Avista Front Desk or Concierge will be happy to assist you with finding a golf course that fits you needs. If you would like to do a little investigating before you arrive, you can visit the Avista Resort website or Myrtle Beach Golf Association website.
Sea Trail Special
Play 3 rounds on each of these challenging golf courses - Jones, Maples & Byrd. Willard Byrd, Dan Maples and Rees Jones each have designed these classic courses surrounded by the southern elegance of the Carolina pines.
