Employee Spotlight
This month we would like it introduce or new intern Naomi Abresch from Vlaardingen, Netherlands. For those of you who are not fluent in Dutch, phonetically she's from Flar-ding-en, Netherlands. Naomi is 19 years old and is here with the American Hospitality Academy. She has a little sister who is 16 years old and her boyfriend serves in the Royal Dutch Army. Naomi is very athletic and enjoys kickboxing, surfing, snowboarding and most any other sport! This is her first time to Myrtle Beach and to the United States. Her favorite things about Myrtle Beach so far are Broadway at the Beach and, of course, the beach! Naomi says that the biggest difference between the Netherlands and the United States for her is the food. Her goal is to try all of the fast food Myrtle Beach has to offer. Naomi has fit right with the Front Desk who she calls helpful and fun to work with. In the future, Naomi would like to own her own Event Coordinating/Catering company. While in Myrtle Beach, she plans to surf as much as she can, learn to play golf, and she would like to meet as many of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans as possible! She is also big fan of American cinema and television. Her favorite show? Grey's Anatomy, of course! Next time you are at the Avista, stop by the Front Desk and say "Hi" to Naomi! Don't worry, it's the same in English as it is in Dutch!
The three words coworkers use to describe Naomi are: Friendly, Interesting and Outgoing.

Abbey Around Town- Hard Rock Park
On a cool night in May, my best friend and I made our first trip to the Hard Rock Park. Needless to say, it won't be the last. We attended what was called the park's "Sound Check." This was a chance to go to the park before the Grand Opening. Immediately, we made a beeline to Led Zeppelin The Ride, which is the park's biggest roller coaster. This coaster is not for those with a weak stomach, in fact I prayed from the moment we left the platform to the moment we exited the ride. For those of you seeking a tamer ride, I suggest Eagles Life In The Fast Lane, which is filled with ups and downs and twists and turns! The park is filled with restaurants, shops, and shows! In fact, I think I missed half of things to do there! So if you are looking for something different to do next time you are in town, check out the Hard Rock Park. For more information on the park, visit www.hardrockpark.com.
Sleep Well
We're very happy to announce that almost every condo has now been upgraded with the new luxurious mattress and box spring sets! The engineering staff worked hard getting everything coordinated to cause the least disruption, and also to ensure that the older mattresses were put to good use. Several local charities came by and picked up some of the still-usable sets to use in their shelters and for some area families suffering hardships. We hope everyone enjoys many nights of restful slumber…sweet dreams.
