A Taste of Dedication: Behind the Scenes with Avista’s Culinary Team

At Avista Resort, the Food & Beverage team is hard at work daily across four bars and eateries, keeping the kitchen buzzing for up to 14 hours. Chef David Stebbins and his team prepare a breakfast buffet serving over 1,000 guests weekly—frying more than 200 pounds of bacon every seven days! They also support the resort staff by making around 230 employee lunches each week.

Each Wednesday, guests enjoy a special beachfront buffet featuring tropical dishes like pineapple chicken, followed by delicious island-style cakes and a lively Hula Fire Show on the pool deck. From classic mozzarella wedges to buffalo chicken mac & cheese, Chef Stebbins has crafted a menu with something for everyone. Thanks to Chef David, Alfred, JC, Marlon, Vincent, and P for their hard work and dedication!

Welcoming TAP: A Group Stay to Remember

This May, Avista Resort had the honor of hosting the annual Travel Alliance Partnership (TAP) Dance conference, bringing together 110 travel industry professionals from across North America for three days of networking, collaboration, and group travel promotion.

The conference provided a valuable platform for tour operators, travel suppliers, and destinations to connect, expand business opportunities, and showcase Myrtle Beach as a premier group travel destination. Bob Harris, Executive VP of Sales for Visit Myrtle Beach, praised the event for its economic impact, highlighting how group business contributes over $70 million annually to the Grand Strand economy. Beyond business, TAP Dance also emphasizes giving back. This year’s TAP Gives Back initiative donated $2,210 to the Champion Autism Network (CAN), a local nonprofit dedicated to creating sensory-friendly experiences for families living with autism—a cause close to the heart of the Myrtle Beach community.

During their stay, TAP attendees enjoyed a variety of resort activities and embraced the local culture, even joining in on Avista’s popular Hula Fire Show, making memories that extended beyond the conference rooms. We’re proud to have hosted this vibrant group and look forward to welcoming TAP back for future events filled with connection, fun, and coastal charm!

Star-Spangled Celebrations!

This Fourth of July, Avista Resort was the place to be! Guests of all ages joined us for a full day of festive fun and patriotic spirit—all set against the beautiful backdrop of the North Myrtle Beach coastline. The day began with the mouthwatering aromas of our All-American Cookout, where grilled favorites and classic sides brought everyone together for a delicious midday feast. From there, the excitement continued with a series of family-friendly activities, including our ever-popular duck races and the crowd-favorite pie eating contest—messy, hilarious, and always a good time!

Adding to the fun was our poolside DJ, who kept the tunes spinning and the energy high throughout the day. Guests danced, splashed, and soaked up the sun with music as the perfect backdrop to the celebration. As night fell, we kept the party going with our vibrant Glow Night event. The pool area lit up with glowsticks, neon accessories, and glowing fun for all ages—creating a colorful and unforgettable atmosphere that carried the celebration into the evening.

The perfect ending? A spectacular fireworks display just a short walk up the beach at the iconic Cherry Grove Pier, where families gathered in the sand to watch the sky light up in red, white, and blue. Thank you to all who joined us—we can’t wait to make even more memories next Independence Day!

Employee Spotlight: Leslie – The Backbone of Engineering Operations

Submitted by Susan King, Director of Engineering

At Avista Resort, many of the things that run smoothly behind the scenes are thanks to one incredibly dedicated team member: Leslie, our Engineering Coordinator. For the past three years, Leslie has played a vital role in keeping our operations on track. From scheduling vendors and coordinating inspections to managing orders and supporting daily logistics, Leslie is the organized force that keeps everything moving efficiently.

Her attention to detail and behind-the-scenes problem solving are key to our success, and I truly don’t know what we’d do without her. Leslie’s reliability, professionalism, and commitment make her one of a kind, and we’re so lucky to have her as part of the Avista family!

This picture was snapped after enjoying a long day on the beach, before going out for the evening. This view was from our bedroom and we had great weather all week! Bell staff was amazing. The condition and cleanliness of the room is great.
