As the vibrant days of summer fade into the golden glow of fall, we’re reflecting on another unforgettable season here at Avista Resort! From sun-soaked memories on the beach to exciting events that brought our guests and staff together, it’s been a wonderful ride. In this edition, we’ll take a look back at some of our favorite end-of-summer moments, share highlights from our recent fall festivities, and give you a look at the exciting events and activities we have planned in the months ahead. The season may be changing, but the fun and hospitality at Avista Resort are here to stay!

Autumn Arrives with Coastal Charm at Avista Resort

As we wave goodbye to another sunny summer season, we can’t help but smile thinking back on all the excitement that filled our resort! One of the biggest hits once again was our Hula Fire Dinner & Show, which brought a taste of the islands right here to North Myrtle Beach. With dazzling performances, vibrant music, and delicious food, this event truly lit up the night. It was such a favorite that we even offered showings to accommodate larger visiting groups, and every one of them was a blast! Guests of all ages enjoyed the energy, talent, and pure fun that this tradition brings year after year.

Another guest favorite was the lively Tropical Jammers, a talented father-and-son steel drum duo who performed every Friday throughout the season. Their rhythmic island tunes created the perfect tropical atmosphere, providing that unmistakable vacation vibe guests love so much. Did you know that steel drums, also called steelpans, were invented in Trinidad and Tobago in the 1930s? These instruments are crafted by hammering and shaping oil drums, with each note’s unique depth and curve determining its pitch. The result is that bright, cheerful sound that instantly transports you to the islands!

From the fiery flair of the Hula Show to the smooth sounds of the steel drums, summer at Avista Resort was filled with music, laughter, and unforgettable memories once again! 

Coming Together for a Team Member in Need

At Avista Resort, our team is like family and when one of our own faces a difficult time, we rally together to show our support. Alfred Evans, a beloved member of our Just Off Main kitchen team for nearly 20 years, is currently navigating a challenging period and will be away from work for a while. To help lift some of the burden, our staff and guests joined forces for a special fundraiser in his honor.

Over the course of a week, we hosted two lobby bake sales featuring an array of homemade treats, as well as a 50/50 raffle, where half of the proceeds went to the raffle winner and the other half directly to Alfred. The outpouring of generosity from guests, staff, and the community was truly touching.

Every purchase and donation made a difference and more importantly, reminded us all of the kindness and care that make Avista Resort such a special place. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who contributed to support Alfred and his family during this time!

Taco Tuesdays & Trivia Nights at the Tree Top Lounge

We’re keeping the good times rolling this season with our brand-new weekly Taco Tuesdays & Trivia! Every Tuesday from 4–6 PM, guests are invited to join us in the Tree Top Lounge on the fourth floor for an evening of flavor and friendly competition.

Enjoy a delicious selection of tacos with your choice of chicken, beef, or carnitas, paired with chips and salsa for the perfect pre-dinner treat. To top it all off, we’re serving up $5 house margaritas that add just the right amount of kick to the fun!

While you savor your tacos, join in on our interactive trivia game, all you need is internet access on your mobile phone to play along. Form a team or compete solo against fellow guests for a chance to win exciting prizes from our Pearl Gift Shop in the lobby.

It’s the perfect mix of food, fun, and friendly vibes as well as a great way to spend a Tuesday evening here at Avista!

Going Over the Edge for a Great Cause

On September 6th, 2025, Avista Resort proudly hosted Over the Edge, the most thrilling charity event of the year! A total of 92 brave and big-hearted participants took on the challenge of rappelling 17 stories down the side of Avista Resort, all to raise funds and awareness for New Directions of Horry County.

New Directions is the Grand Strand’s leading provider of shelter and addiction recovery assistance, offering vital support and resources to those in need throughout our community. The event brought together locals, visitors, and organizations for a day filled with courage, compassion, and community spirit. With the North Myrtle Beach coastline as the backdrop, the event was a meaningful reminder of what can be accomplished when the community comes together.

We’re honored to have been a part of such a meaningful cause and inspired by everyone who quite literally went over the edge to make a difference!

Celebrate the Holidays, Avista Style!

The most wonderful time of the year is right around the corner, and there’s no better place to celebrate than Avista! This holiday season, we’re serving up incredible food, live entertainment, and unforgettable memories from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day.

We’ll kick things off with our Thanksgiving Buffet Dinner, a delicious feast featuring all your holiday favorites. With tender roasted turkey, savory sides and decadent desserts that capture the true taste of the season. It’s the perfect way to relax, indulge, and give thanks by the ocean with family and friends.

Then, as the year draws to a close, join us for our spectacular New Year’s Eve Celebration, where the energy is high, the music is live, and the memories last all year long! We’re thrilled to welcome our new band, The Entertainers, who will bring the dance floor to life with an exciting mix of classics and crowd favorites. There’s truly no better place on the Grande Strand to ring in 2026 than right here at Avista!

The celebration doesn’t stop there! Start 2026 off right with our New Year’s Day Brunch at Just Off Main, featuring a live musical performance to keep the festive spirit going. With mouthwatering dishes to wholesome tunes, it’s the perfect finale to an unforgettable holiday weekend.
