North Myrtle Beach on the Cheap

When travelers begin their planning phase for their North Myrtle Beach vacation, they have a lot to consider – What do we pack? Should we stay oceanfront or off ocean? Where do we eat? Should I buy a shark tooth necklace or a hermit crab? Can I visit North Myrtle Beach on the cheap?

Now, more than ever, we are hearing the same questions from guests traveling from all over the nation: “How can we save money on our North Myrtle Beach vacation?”, “what is there to do in North Myrtle Beach that is free?” or “What are some cheap things to do in North Myrtle Beach?”

Last year saw a boom in travel all over the world. Folks were more than ready to get back to normalcy after lockdowns, restrictions, and uncertainty. Many resorts, restaurants, attractions, and retailers were significantly understaffed, but this did not deter people who needed to get away from the doom and gloom and to feel some beach vibes!

Today, however travel has slowed down a bit due to record inflation and gas prices, which have made many travelers think twice about a beach trip that has been both a tradition and a “reset button” for stress, worries, and fatigue. Many travelers worry that should they take their annual beach trip, they will have to sacrifice their fun, food, and activities and just be bored at their condo. We’ve got the answer to this conundrum: Take your vacation, enjoy all the great onsite amenities at Avista Resort, and save! We’ve got you covered with free, fun activities and money saving tips!

  1. Who Needs a Waterpark?
A birds eye view of the pool and lazy river of Avista Resort

One of the coolest things about staying at Avista is that you won’t even have to leave the resort to have the perfect vacation! Avista boasts the absolute best overall amenities in all of North Myrtle Beach. There’s Indoor AND outdoor pools, lazy rivers, & hot tubs that are first class. Kids will love the play area and during the summer, we have a poolside DJ that gets everyone dancing, creating the perfect vibe! You can even see our guests having a blast via our live webcam HERE.

Myrtle Beach has some fun things to do, for sure – but there’s nothing more fun for kids than enjoying the sparkling waters of our pools! Mom and Dad will also appreciate the Sip ‘N Dip and Snack Shack which provide cold drinks, hot food, and great service poolside! Your entire party will also love “Avista Beach”. This “beach within a beach” is a gorgeous sandy area between the pool and dunes where you can sit under our Avista-blue umbrellas, dig your toes in the soft sand, or play an exciting game or 3 of cornhole – all while enjoying the sound of waves, warm ocean breeze, and beautiful flowers. If you’re looking to create lasting vacation memories for you and your family – this will be PERFECT!

2. Hungry?

There’s no getting around it – eating out at restaurants has gotten CRAZY EXPENSIVE! Even fast food has gotten expensive, but luckily, we have a solution that will save you gas money and deliver delicious delights: Our onsite restaurants. Just Off Main is our main restaurant and features extensive breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. Start your day off right with the breakfast buffet offering scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, country fried steak, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, cereal, bagels, toast, grits, smoked sausage, and more. You can also order off the menu (I suggest the southwest omelet – it’s amazing!). Lunch can be ordered in Just Off Main or at our Pool Bars and features chicken wings, nachos, salads, shrimp, fish, and chicken tender baskets, as well as delicious burger and sandwich options. The kids’ menu is also very good and your little ones will love it! Dinner has nightly specials and our chef delivers expertly prepared cuisine.

If dining out isn’t in the cards, then you can not only get your food delivered via uber eats, grub hub, or our onsite restaurant but each of our units feature a fully equipped kitchen where you can save time and money and prepare home cooked meals. Sitting at the dining room table or even on your private balcony while you watch the waves is a remarkable experience that everyone will remember for years to come.

3. Fun, Fun, Fun!

Spikeball on the beach is a blast!

North Myrtle Beach has a plethora of attractions and activities for the whole family. There’s miniature golf with dinosaurs, mine carts, volcanos, and crashed airplanes (we see you, Mayday Golf!) as well as Broadway-Caliber shows, unique shopping, zoos, & more. While these are all phenomenal, they do add up $$$ during your stay. At Avista, we bring the fun to YOU! We have a ton of guided activities throughout the week, during the summer. These activities are always highly reviewed and our guest feedback has been extraordinary. Here’s just some of what we offer: Cornhole, Horseshoes, Beach Volleyball, Duck Races (of the rubber variety), Rock Painting, Tie Dye T-shirt making, Spike Ball, Movie Nights on the pool deck, and even an exciting scavenger hunt using our app. One of the highlights of the week is our Night Crab Hunt on Avista Beach, where guests are shown some of the diverse creatures on our coast. Crabs, fish, sand-fiddlers, and all sorts of shells can be found with our expert staff. Many folks find shark teeth for great souvenirs! Our staff has so much fun that it’s contagious!

Speaking of Fun, adults can check out our Tree Top lounge where they can enjoy specialty cocktails, beer, wine, and dance to their favorite tunes. Sports fans will love the multiple TV’s and everyone loves the pool table, arcade games, and electronic dart board.

4. Location, Location, Location!

NMB is just 9 miles long – you’ll be able to experience it all at Avista!

Although S.C. has some of the lowest gas prices in the nation, it’s still pretty costly to drive all over the Grand Strand while you’re here (for now). Avista is walking distance to the historic and exciting Ocean Drive area and Main Street, where you’ll find everything from great restaurants, souvenir shops, craft stores, and some of the best Ice Cream you’ll ever find (Melt!). Taking a leisurely stroll at day or night will be a rewarding experience for all. What’s also great is that at the end of Main Street, just a couple of blocks from Avista, is the historic “Horseshoe” where you can experience free concerts on the oceanfront stage. Bring your cooler, beach chair, and enjoy your favorite hits!

You’ll also find that there’s some great stuff just in a five-mile radius from the resort. The Cherry Grove Pier, 810 Billiards and Bowling, Seafood Buffets, and more are very close. Plus – Barefoot Landing is exactly 5 miles away and a 10-minute drive to all the great shopping, attractions, and dining options there.

5. Creating Memories for free

Bringing a board game from home will help create great vacation memories – plus it’s very cool to look out your window and see the ocean while playing!

Shopping and watching a show are great, but let’s look at what really matters during your vacation: Spending time with the people you care about most. When you’re caught up on schedules, reservations, and standing in line, it takes away from your experience and creates the very thing that you came to get away from: Stress. When you stay at Avista, you’ll be able to take that quiet walk down the beach at dusk. You can watch your goofy brother get buried by his nephews in the sand. You can catch up over laughs with friends and family while playing a board game in your beautiful condo after you just made your famous spaghetti dinner. It’s all here at Avista. We make it easy to save and provide vacation memories that will last a lifetime. Make your reservation today and guarantee these much-needed memories during this exasperating time while visiting North Myrtle Beach on the cheap.
