Get Back to the True Meaning of the Holidays – At The Beach!

Family on Beach Christmas

Get Back to the True Meaning of the Holidays

So many times throughout the holiday season each year, we all say the same thing: “Things have become too materialized” or “Christmas used to be so much more fun when things were simpler”. The good ol’ days did seem more fun, right? We’ve all become a little too obsessed at times over getting/finding an expensive gift for someone and we’ve all felt that stress of being 100% PERFECT as a host, cook, or playing Santa. If we could only go back to a better time, when the magic of the holidays meant making memories with the people we care for most. Hmmm…….

I know how! A beach vacation!

Before you dismiss this as a cheap plug, please know this: I speak in the most earnest “real-talk” when I tell you how you can reclaim the magic of the season. It’s time to stop stressing about finding that $2000 electronic gift, putting together a feast that will satisfy those picky relatives that you see once every 3 years, and worrying about a house full of people. Here’s exactly how a holiday beach vacation can help you lose that seasonal stress and bring everyone together:

Imagine waking up Christmas Morning to THIS!
  1. A Different Setting. Change is good.

Break from the norm! For the last few years we all have seen kids, teenagers, and yes – adults immediately break from holiday fun to retire to their safety zones of electronics, phones, and hiding away in their rooms. A beach vacation in a gorgeous oceanfront condo will stop that with ocean views and a sense of newness that will excite those who fall back on disassociation. Take that excitement of walking into your lovely condo in the summer, stepping out on that balcony, and smelling that warm salt air to the next level by sprinkling in the anticipation of the holiday fun to come.

2. You are Forced to Spend Time TOGETHER

What a horrible thought, right? This is why the holidays are so important! We make the best memories in life by spending quality time with those who matter most. Kids are going to remember this trip FOREVER. “Remember the time when we went to the beach for Christmas and ate crab legs at the buffet until we popped?!” or “How about that time when we woke up early on Christmas morning and opened gifts as the sun came up over the ocean. That was beautiful”.

Yes! That is what we are looking for! The exciting moments of taking in a Christmas Show at Alabama Theater or The Carolina Opry. The solemn moments of that peace you can only get by walking on the beach, watching the waves, and listening to the surf. The precious moments that may not happen when everyone gets spread out in a familiar environment. If you come to the beach during the holidays – these moments will happen.

3. You are Forced to Spend Time APART

Wait, what? “You just said that we are supposed to spend time TOGETHER!”

What I mean by this is that when you travel as a family on a beach vacation, you can get back to basics as a family unit. It’s true – holidays are for making memories with the entire family, but it is sometimes important, crucial – even, to make memories with your immediate loved ones. I’ve talked with many, many families through the years who have told me that breaking away during the holidays as a small group made them closer and allowed them to focus on themselves. We know you love your entire family, but things can get tense even anticipating a large gathering. Sometimes you just have to break away from “don’t mention politics in front of cousin Jake” or “Are we going to have to share a bed with Fuller, the bed wetter?”. Taking a holiday beach vacation ELIMINATES stress. It’s comforting, warm, and familiar all while experiencing new things.

Take a break from “Fuller” this year!

4. THIS is the Year to do it!

It has been unprecedented times during the past couple of years and as things are looking more and more normal, we all need a break! We need to recharge! We have to step away from the news, the media, and get back to basics. We need to breathe!

We know the holidays can be stressful, that’s why we want you to know that we are here for you. You might be concerned with gathering as a large family. You might be concerned with strong opinions about the world between relatives.

Bring a small Christmas Tree, bring your gifts or even buy them here at one of our many unique shops or shopping centers.  Have a traditional or non-traditional dinner at our wonderful restaurants. Play a round of golf! Play a round or two of putt-putt! Watch a Christmas show or stroll down the avenues at Barefoot Landing or Broadway at the Beach.
